In 2014, Mediaspace, Aarhus’ new main library, citizens’ services and so on, will be finished in the Aarhus Docklands where the river runs into the harbour. Mediaspace will be a flexible and dynamic sanctuary for everyone in search of knowledge, inspiration, and personal development - an open and accessible learning environment supporting democracy and community.
Breaking the ground
In June 2011, we broke the first ground. This was an excellent opportunity to thank all of the citizens, employees and partners, who have been involved with the process so far. At the same time, it kicked off a new phase in the project in which we are going to become even more concrete on the areas of e.g. service design, interior decoration and art.
3D model
A new 3D model on the project website www.urbanmediaspace.dk/en now provides the opportunity to take a walk around the building. The 3D model will be used as a tool in the upcoming involvement processes in connection with decoration and art among other things.
Involvement and processing
A number of users, employees and network have during 2011 been involved with specifying Mediaspace and its functions. The project will be evaluated continuously in terms of accessibility and work environment with a dedicated focus on energy efficient construction.
